How To Replace The Nintendo Wii Drive

Items Needed: Philips Screwdriver, Triwing Screwdriver, Small knife (optional).

1) Remove the 4 pieces on the bottom portion of the Wii (they hide the tri-wing screws). Take out the screws.

2) Remove the 4 pieces that hide the screws. Take out all 5 screws shown below.

3) Remove the battery and the tri-wing screw.

4) Gently pull the top 2 covers off.

5) Remove the 3 small phillips screws and then pull off the black covering.

6) Remove the 4 screws (2 are phillips, 2 are tri-wing).

7) Slowly take off the faceplate, unplug the wire before completely pulling it off. Disregard the circled screws.

8) Pull off the top cover and metal shield that covers the drive. Take out the 4 phillips screws that hold the drive in place.

9) Gently pull up on the disc drive and remove the 2 cables as shown below.

Put the new disc drive in and reassemble the unit. That was easy! |
