The so-called "dog bone" NES controller came bundled with the top loader NES system. Nintendo re-designed the original rectangle controller due to receiving many complaints from hardcore gamers about getting blisters after many hours of play. Very few dog bone controllers were ever produced as the SNES came out soon after the top loader NES was released.
