This is my first time doing a review so bare with me here. Any advice would be apperciated.
Right off the bat you will notice changes from last years smackdown game. A lot of modes like Gm mode and superstar mode have been cut. also there are no challenges like in previous games. That was disapointing to me. They did add new things in though like the new story mode called road to wrestlemania. You can pick one of 5 single player stories or a tag team story and you play through about three months, starting before the rumble and of course going to wrestlemania. The stories are pretty detailed and not so generic like last years season mode but that comes at a price. You can only be 5 superstars, triple h, undertaker, cm punk, chris jericho, and john cena. For the tag team one you have to be batista and rey rey. I have not had a chance to try the tag team road to wrestlemania yet. My roommate won't play because he refuses to be either of those wrestlers. there is a season mode besides road to wrestlemania. You pick a wrestler and depending who you pick determines what title you challenge for. You have to earn a certain about of stars to get a title shot. To earn stars you face other contenders and have to put on a good match. This is also the mode for raising the stats of your created wrestlers or as some people call them caws. They have changed how you get points as well. Instead of winning matches and then being able to put points in whatever stats you want, it now puts them in the stats for you, depending on how you wrestled the match. I am not a fan of this new system. The wrestling itself has not really changed from last years game. the controls are basically the same. There are new tag team controls and a feature called the hot tag. Once per match you can charge it up and use it and tag in your partner which then has to follow some button prompts to attack the legal and illegal opponents. Pull it off and you get a full momentum meaning you could end the match right after. As I said this can only be done once a match so you have to know when to use it. There is a new match, the inferno match, but in my opinion it doesn't really add much. Online play is the same as last year too. Still no online royal rumble. Since this version is for the 360 it does look great but still suffers from the same problems as previous versions. Ties phasing through the chest, and the other graphical glitches of the past. All and all if you are a wrestling fan or a fan of the series I do think you should pick this up. The game is good but not great. Thank you for your time and any constructive criticism would be apperciated. I wouldn't mind trying to review other games in the future. Thank you for your time. |
