These are the specs for the new Xbox 360, which include a "custom Kinect port," a new system fan that's "as quiet as a PS3," according to Microsoft, and some other noteworthy changes, like the official death of Memory Units.

* Touch Sensitive Buttons - turn the Xbox 360 on or off and eject a disc with the swipe of a finger
* Whisper Quiet - Whether you're playing a DVD disc or from the hard drive or navigating the dashboard, with the all-new and much quieter Xbox 360, the only noise you'll hear is your own laughing, cheering and playing
* Wi-Fi - Built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi for fast, easy connection to your friends and entertainment on Xbox LIVE.
* Hard Drive - 250GB internal, swappable hard drive for even more storage. To access, remove the bottom panel by pushing the small tab toward the front of the console.
* Kinect-ready - Custom Kinect port on the back of the console that directly hooks up to the Kinect sensor for controller-free fun.
* USB Slots - Five USB ports, three in the back and two in the front.
* Power Supply - Smaller and more efficient. Xbox 360 250GB and Xbox 360 Original power supplies are not interchangeable.
* Wireless Controller - The award-winning Xbox 360 Wireless Controller matches the console in all black with color-matched thumbsticks and directional pad with a touch of gloss and chrome to complete the look.
* Backward Compatible - Your favorite accessories and games will work with Xbox 360 250GB. Xbox 360 external hard drives and Memory Units are not compatible.

We've unboxed our first 250GB Xbox 360 (the Xbox 360 'Slim' to the layman) and we've gotta tell you: it felt good. Stand by for more shots.

Update: Here they are, we've got video on the way as well. Here are some initial thoughts:

* The touch sensitive buttons quickly asserted themselves as not-the-best-thing-ever when we were unable to tell if we'd turned the Xbox on under the bright lights of Microsoft's setup. We're sure we'd see the green glow easily in our dark entertainment center at home, but it's a small little inconvenience -- one that PS3 owners are well aware of.
* The touch sensitive eject button isn't so bad, because the tray seems uber fast -- we didn't clock it, but we'd say it pops out faster than our existing Xbox.
* The Xbox feels just about as heavy as the existing Xbox, although the power adapter is smaller and much lighter.
* We booted up Alan Wake and while we were in a relatively loud room, we didn't find the Xbox to be loud at all. We'll have to get it in the labs to see how it stacks up with the original, but Microsoft obviously had noise pollution in its sights here. They worked directly with the drive manufacturer to reduce every source of noise (including air turbulence!), and dub their accomplishment "whisper quiet."
* This is a personal opinion, but we think it looks pretty badass in person, though not at all a wild shift from the existing look.

me too i personally want to trade mine in and purchase one right now! the only downfall is that the hard drive is totally different and is propitiatory to microsoft and isn't the same as the old 360's. hopefully there would be a way to transfer your data and etc on to your new box

How to Move Content to Another Xbox 360 Console

If you've purchased a new Xbox 360 console, you can transfer everything (games, videos, music, saved games, gamertags, and even your hard-won achievements) to your new console!

There are two options available for moving your precious information. You can either use the Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Kit to move everything to your new console, or connect a USB thumb drive if you only have a small amount of content such as your gamertag and saved games.

The Hard Drive Transfer Kit, which includes a special transfer cable, can be purchased online or from a local game retailer.

To transfer content to your new console, you need the Hard Drive Transfer Kit and the latest console software. To get the latest console software, sign in to Xbox LIVE on your new console. If your console needs new software, you'll be prompted to install it. If your console is not connected to Xbox LIVE, you can use your computer to download the console update from the Internet. Here's how: Get a Dashboard update.

Once you have the Hard Drive Transfer Kit, you're ready to transfer content.

To transfer content to another console

1. Remove the hard drive from your old Xbox 360 console. How do I do this?

2. Connect the transfer cable to your old hard drive as shown below.

3. Plug the other end of the transfer cable into a USB port on your new console. When both ends of the cable are connected, you are ready to transfer content.

4. Turn on your new console. If you have the latest console software installed, the following message will appear.

Choose Yes, transfer to console.

Note: If this message does not appear, sign in to Xbox LIVE to get the latest console software.

5. Select Start to begin the content transfer.

the transfer is complete, sign in to Xbox LIVE and enjoy your new Xbox 360 console.

Content Licenses
After your content is transferred to the new console, some content might still be associated with your old Xbox 360. Don't worry, you'll still be able to play the content on your new console as long as you are signed in to Xbox LIVE using the gamertag that originally purchased the content.

However, if you want to use all of your transferred content without signing in to Xbox LIVE or with a different gamertag, you'll need to transfer the content licenses to your new console. For information on how to do this, please go to www.xbox.com/drm.

Using a USB Storage Device
If you only need to move a small amount of content (such as a gamertag or a saved game), you can use a USB storage device to move the content to your new console. You can find information about using a USB storage device at www.xbox.com/storage.

Note: The Xbox 360 console can copy a maximum of 16 gigabytes (GB) to a USB storage device. If you need to transfer more than 16 GB of content, you should use the Hard Drive Transfer Kit.
