Designer: Maxis
Rating: E
Release date: september 7th 2008

The game to be reviewed is spore. Spore is a game developed by maxis and by designer of the sims will wright. The game was released september 7, 2008.
Spore starts you off in the cell stage,(or if you premade a creature later on) in the cell stage you basicly choose a mouth(carnivore or herbavore) and then swim around eating whatever it is you need to eat. While being avioding preditors who would eat you. To describe the cell stage simply it is basicly pac man. After you reach a certian threshold of food you grow legs and swim onto land and the second stage begins.
The second stage is called the creature stage. In this stage you control only one of your creations, the goal of this stage is to befriend or hunt other creatures. the creature stage has you earning dna points to grow your creature you can add parts you see fit to help or hinder your creature. after you complete this stage you move onto the tribal stage.
The tribal stage plays more like a small rts. You control from 6 to 12 units throughout the stage. In this stage you can either attack or impress neighbors. doing so gives you more tools to use in the stage. In this stage it is important to have at least 2 units at home or near it. Mostly to defend from wild animals stealing your food and from tribal raiders. after impressing 5 villages you move to the civilazation age.
In the civilazation age you now control an entire city complete with buildings you created. This stage plays like a bigger rts with vehicles being your units. The only resources you need are spice which is tranformed into sporebucks when mined. As other city's of your race pop up to challenge you you must either; buy their cities, destroy them, or religously convert them. After taking over the planet you advance to the finale stage.
The final stage is the space stage, in this you control only one ship, there are multiple ways to get through this stage, by playing the early stages your earn certain abilities. This stage has you going around terraforming planets, killing enemies, meeting ancient races, gathering artifacts, and find out whats in the center of the galaxy. I read somwhere that the game's galaxy would take 73 years of constant playing to fully explore. Shocked
Now that I am done talking about what happens now is the time to talk about the gameplay. Spores interface in the early stages is fine, you often will die in the cell stage Mad . In the creature stage I often got killed and had to restart back across the contientent Mad . The creature stage also has what the game calls "epic" creatures running around, these creatures are supersized versions of other creatures. Suffice to say the are very hard to kill. In the tribal stage it is annoying to manage when your creatures eat, Example is that I was in another village trying to impress them then one of my creatures died becuase I neglected his eating. So I had to send everyone back to the village and wait for them to eat then i had to go all the way back and do my impressing again. In the civilazation stage it was bad to have to go and capture spice geysers before others did. Mad The space stage is a personal bitch to me becuase When you have a colony mining spice for you have to go to each individual planet to gather it then you have to zoom out to star veiw then fly across several star systems just to sell for crap prices. Mad Mad Another annoyance was having a small inventory, even after i upgraded it fully i still lacked good space. Rolling Eyes Also your planets get atacked every 14 seconds by pirates and if you don't have time to fly back to some backwater planet just to save one little city then your whole empire gets angry at you. only after patching the game did this get close to being fixed. Mad The graphics on this game are really high requirements I just recently got a new computer and still i had to turn my graphics down low. Crying or Very sad But on the whole i did like this game Very Happy I liked being able to design buildings and vehicles as well as creaures. Overall i would give this game an 7.8

My pc handled it fine but I had to turn ALL my settings down to low. I recomend renting this game or borrowing it's not replayable.
