Normally I could care less about Sonic games, but this one's different. Not only is it an RPG but it's also being made by Bioware (Mass Effect, the KOTOR series, and the Neverwinter Nights series).
Anyone else excited for this? |

I'm excited. I've been waiting for a sonic rpg ever since the first Mario RPG came out.
I love the 2d sonic stuff, including the newer releases for the GBA. He's been less than satisfying in 3D however. I DO like the character design improvements though. Robotnic feels like a real villain finally.

Dang, September is full of games I want, I need more money.
Although I'll probably make one of my friends buy Rock Band 2, and I'll probably wait till the DRM issues with spore are worked out. |

I've decided that these reviews are total BS the game is kicking my ass. Enemies hit hard. At about halfway through the game a regular attack will take way about 1/3 of any characters health. Special moves will either deal the same damage to your whole team, do the same damage to one unit but heal the attacker, or outright kill the unit it hits. Only 2 of the characters can heal, only one can do it well and if you mess up or mistime even one part of the sequence, the move fails totally and still consumes your pp. After this you need to use healing items. You run out, a lot. Even with Rouge stealing more. Money is extremely limited so you will only be able to buy a few, and then you are not buying gear.
I'm actually probably going to have to restart the game. On my current save my entire team is at 1hp, out of pp, out of healing items, there are no shops or safe areas to heal at, I cannot leave the zone and I have to fight a boss battle. They warn you that once you move to this area that you cannot go back. They don't warn you that there are no shops or bases to heal at.

Going back and reading gamestops review over it's actually pretty accurate. The storyline is meh and the quests are simple. The menu system is rather generic but the battles are actually quite tough. They do get pretty repetetive though.

I'm likely going to be doing the same thing. I liked the characters and the storyline was ok, but the battles just suck. It's not fun to play.
