Overview

Let me just say this, it is about time we get a really good M rated game on the Wii other than Resident Evil (because RE is just a given that it is going to be awesome). It might have taken Ubisoft a few trys to get a good game up on the Wii, but they have finally done it with No More Heroes. After the crap that was Red Steel, Ubisoft rebounded and called apon Suda 51, the creator of Killer7 (an awesome game that is on the GCN and PS2, one to look out for Wink ), and boy did he deliver. Sure, the game is short, but it makes up in everything that it has to offer.

Story: You take control of Travis Touchdown, from the town of Santa Destroy, who looks to be number one on the assassins list. Stepping in to assist him is the beautiful agent of the United Assassins Association. It is through her that Travis goes up and up, to get to number one. Along the way you meet with other special persons that will help you upgrade stats, and your trusty beam katana. As Travis moves up the ladder, the story unfolds, and you learn more and more about Travis, and less about his background, like his love for wrestling, or anime.

Gameplay: The Wii controls are not used very much, and for this game, it is a good thing. Sure, they come into play when needed, and it makes the overall experience of the game better. Take for example, when fighting an enemy, you use the A button in order to melee with your beam katana, then when they are almost dead, an on screen arrow appears, and that is the way you swing the Wii Remote. Nice little touched include using wrestling moves, and the on screen arrows will have you use both the Wii Remote and Nunchuck. Or, if wrestling isn't your style, how about mowing the grass and turning the Wii Remote to move left and right? No? Hmm...you need to get out more. Fighting enemies is smooth, although the only gripe I had with it while playing, is when you kill multiple enemies at once, the frame rate goes to crap, but thats okay.

Now, when you start getting more into the game, and getting more places to explore, you get to use Travis' motorcycle, and this bike is about the best thing you could ever think of driving around. The bike is your main source of travel throughout the town, and if you don't remember where you parked it? No worries, just make a call to your friend and he will bring it right to you.

Graphics: God is this game beautiful. Sure, it doesn't take full advantage of what the Wii is possible capable of (by looking at Super Mario Galaxy and Resident Evil 4), but the cell-shaded grapics do a lot for the game, and make it really interesting to watch. Just like Killer7, the over the top kills where you can't see anything when the blood splatters everywhere is so worth it. Like said earlier, the only issue is the frame rate at some points in the game, but I can live with it, the game still delivers.

Sound: The best use of the Wii Remote integration is when you are just before a boss fight, I discovered this. When Travis is on his cell phone, walking slowly, make sure that the sound on the Wii Remote is on, or at least turn on the subtitles, or you will not understand what is taking place. Trust me, my sound was off, and I thought that this was just stupid, until I turned the sound on the other day and found out how stupid I was. By holding the Wii Remote up to your ear, you get to hear the conversation. Nice touch Ubisoft Wink

The voice overs are all done great, unlike those of Red Steel. It really hits hard with the deep voices that are used, and the great actors used to voice the characters, although they aren't very well known, they did one heck of a job with this game for sound. There isn't much music in game, but it wouldn't do much for a game like this as it is.

Lasting appeal: Sure, this game is short, and you can beat it with about eleven hours of gameplay, but the game is worth it. The story is just great to watch unfold, and this game has some of the best gameplay on the Wii right now. If you were waiting for that perfect M rated game, this is it.

Overall: I can't find much to hate about this game, because there is so much awesomeness to it.

I've been wanting to get this since the trailers were first released, I just want to get it on the cheap.
