Around 30 people competed for the $200 cash prize in our first ever Madden 09 tournament.

Saturday was a big day, player after player came in to sign up in hopes of being the 1st ever Gaming Generations Madden 09 champion. With $200 on the line, things heated up pretty quickly. Many games were close, this created some smack talking, but the overall sportsmanship of the players was good. A big thanks goes out to Jake for helping run the tournament and keeping things in line.

FIRST PLACE: $200 Prize
SECOND PLACE: Jake $100 Prize
THIRD PLACE: Fred $50 Prize

The 1st place winners name will be updated soon, for some reason I forgot the tournament sheet at store tonight.

There was a lot of drama for that game. I was tempted to call the Wahmbulance a few times.

Well, I wasn't in it, but you could hear people whining and complaining about how someone had the ball for 9 minutes of the 12, or how something they thought shouldn't happen did happen... It was pretty ridiculous.

I wasn't there but it truly is no fun to run clock. However, its a tourny and you play to win, if that helps them win, then it is what it is. Second, if you let someone hold the ball for 9 out 12 minutes then you need to call lost and found and ask where your defense is.

^Exactly what I was thinking. If you don't have the ball you probably just don't know what you're doing on either side of the ball.

Is there a way we can get away from allowing people to run the clock? Like have the clock stop after every play?

Then again, that wouldn't be 100% fair either now that I think about it.

profane, well how does Madden Challenge do it?

If Madden allows you to set it up, you could have each team take a certain number of downs on offense vs the other player's defense from a certain yard line. I'm thinking like college overtime rules, but with a set number of downs. Then again, it's not very game like that way.

I don't know if the madden challenge things are multiplayer, but you could have one team face another in the different scenarios. Then again, people could just train for those then and it wouldn't be very fun...

At the Madden Challege it is 2 minute quarters not rules except for a few non plays that abuse the ai flaws, like wr double pass. You can run clock all you want and choose what ever plays you want.

EA is suppose to come out with a patch over xbox live to make the clock more realistic for short games, put it has not yet been put out.

The only way to make so you get more positions would be to have longer games, which would take forever.

Point is though, if you have the ball for less than 25 percent of the game then its your D or maybe your offense is lacking.

when your playing the game though it is so easy to have an unstoppable offense, the really dont come out with enough things to improve defense

I disagree...too many people focus on offense and not on their defense. I play on a madden site where that profane would get shut down. The average person just sits arould practicing offense, the wont spend time figuring out ways to stop people.
