With all of this internet smack talk going down, we figured there should be a so-called "Focus Fire Camper Rematch" tournament.
_______________________________________

Tournament Location: La Crosse Public Library - 800 Main St, La Crosse, WI‎ 54601 -
Tournament Date: June 19th 2010.
Tournament Check in/Registration: 9:30 A.M - 10:30 A.M.
Tournament Start Time: 11:00 A.M.
------------------------------------
Game Types
Demolition
Capture the Flag
Search and Destroy

------------------------------------
Maps
Will be picked day of event
------------------------------------
So we've got some smack talk going on about the last tournament. Every other post had the word "Camp" in it.

This is NOT limited to the top 8 teams from Focus Fire. But the top 8 teams do get automatic entry. Up to 24 other teams may play, assuming the top 8 from Focus Fire return.

This tourney will cost $10 per player, so $40 a team, 90% payout.

It will go like this:

--------------------
1st - 60% of pot
2nd - 20% of pot
3rd - 10% of pot

$768 1st place prize
$256 2nd place prize
$128 3rd place prize

The price payouts above assume we get all 128 players to pay $10
--------------------

Double elimination tournament and will most likely be held at either the La Crosse Public Library or Liquid Lounge (will finalize this as soon as we figure out the official date).

Game rules from our for this tournament.

Spectators are welcome. There will be PC and other gaming setups available for play.

It should strictly be the top 16 teams from the last tournament, no exceptions, no new teams, no substitutions.

If so, we will be there.

There was really only one big thing that bugged me about the tourney other than the horrific camping some people did (I heard refs saying "ok guys... lets not camp this time, I'm getting bored of this ****...") And that has to do with sportsmanship, a lot of times the cussing was far out of control and I saw some pretty stupid stuff like tea bagging. Honestly stuff like that is why I refuse to play Halo online anymore, because people don't know how to treat each other as regular humans. Maybe in the upcoming 16 team tourney it won't be such a huge deal, but I do know that at Focus Fire there were plenty of kids that should not be hearing some of the stuff that people were saying, and even to these little kids. So for next time, I know some of the guys out there are under the age of 18 and lacking some maturity, but lets try and set some standards for proper human discourse in the future...

Gametypes I would like to see would be:
demolition
cap the flag
headquarters
I'm a fan of Search/Destroy but it probably wouldn't go along with the anti-camping theme being strived for this tourney.

The tournament structure sounds good though. I am game for double elimination. Can't wait to see you guys all there.

Completely legitimate point, but... Online play is much, much worse than what you witnessed at the tournament. I'm amazed at a 10 year olds profanity vocabulary now a days.

It would be difficult to try and police everybody w/ a "No swearing" or "No bad sportsmanship" rule.

But I do agree if something like that happens, the team should get a warning and if it happens again, they would need to possibly forfeit the round. Especially when it comes to t-bagging, taunting and nasty profanity.

I only heard of one team t-bagging at this event. That's not bad considering there were 64 teams (256 players).

Perhaps one solution that would be more of a positive reward would be to have the refs take note of who is playing with class and who isn't by having some sort of sportsmanship award.
