YES, it has vibration.

Shape and Feel - 5 out of 5
No differences over the original SIXAXIS. Its surface is very smooth. Analog sticks have smooth and fluid movement, clicking it in is an ease. The L2 and R2 triggers feel nice and durable. The pressure sensitive buttons work flawlessly in games. This was tested in Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.

Weight and Durability - 5 out of 5
Definitely an improvement over the original SIXAXIS. It now has more weight, in turn making it feel more durable. I tried twisting the controller and it feels solid, unlike the SIXAXIS which feels like it is going to break and makes uncomfortable noises.

VIBRATION 4 out of 5
Feels just like the Dual Shock 2, but is surprisingly lighter. It works with all PS2 titles and newer PS3 games! Vibration works with most (if not all) arcade games, although Sony did announce they were going to release a patch in a newer firmware version to add rumble to all games, including those launch titles such as Resistance. I got to test a few games such as Pain, Flow, Uncharted, and MGS3 Subsistence (PS2) and the vibration worked on all. Seems like there is a slight delay in rumble, as well, but nothing devestating.

SIXAXIS - 5 out of 5
It works flawlessly. I tested it with Flow, and Super Rub-a-dub

Battery Life - ???
Never got to test it out, but I heard some complaints, when, I honestly don't think it is that bad. I think the battery life is just as long as the standard SIXAXIS.

OVERALL - 5 out of 5
I really like this controller. I have always favored Sony's design over any other controller design, and this just tops it off. With wireless, rumble, tilt-control, and the classic Playstation controller design, the Dual Shock 3 really has it all. Everything you need for a next-gen experience is all here, all in one small, yet delicate package. Get yours today at Gaming Generations!

Yeah DS3 are awesome, I got me a pair. I just hope more FPS game would imply updates to use the vibrate feature. So far Resistance is the only that I played that uses vibration. Still waiting for CoD4 DS3 patch Very Happy

We tried Resistance Kamb and could not get vibration from it. The settings to turn it on and off are not even in the settings on the game yet. How did you get it working??

Nice review by the way!

After the update that enables PrintScrn from keyboard, seem to also enable DS3 Vibration. All I did, was press the PS Home button and enable Vibration.

Here is the list of some games that have vibration feature....

It says users will be able to enjoy the rumble after a software update in which we weren't online to get, I believe.

Last update for the game was about 3 months ago. Last firmware update that enabled Vibration was 1.94. Also, they said that "ALL" PS2 games that uses rumble "will" have vibration. But sadly, I have no PS2 games to test it.

You seem to know a lot about this stuff. The PS3 we used at GG may not be up to that firmware version, which is why it didn't work with Resistance.

As for the PS2 games, I haven't had a problem with any. All of my PS2 games work with vibration. Seems like the vibration is a little "light" when compared to the DS2, but it might just be me.

The ps3 at the store is not upgraded to the latest firmware, we need to get that thing online. Thanks for the info. Kamb!

I think this topic needs to be moved to the Game Reviews category, in the PS3 section. I didn't notice the different sections -- may be confusing to newbies.

Good idea... But that section is for game reviews only. I will create a new section for Hardware review soon!

I was playing a game with the controller and didn't even notice it had rumbled, quite a few times. The DS2 controller's vibration is more loud, and it shakes more so that you actually notice it. It can be obnoxious at times, though. Like when I was still living in Maine, had GTAIII in my PS2 for a long time without it paused or shutting it off (I didn't know) and the controller was left in my entertainment system. I couldn't figure out what that irritating buzzing sound was.

Anyway, the DS3 has a more light rumble, and you may not notice it, but it helps you get into the game more, in a way. It seems like we're working with both extremes of the spectrum, though -- non-noticeable rumble versus annoying, loud rumble. Oh well.

Or, change the section to be for both Hardware and Game reviews. It is kind of redundant to have multiple categories with multiple forums, most of which will never be posted in. I honestly think there should only be one forum for game reviews, then another forum for hardware reviews. You do not need to seperate the sections by console - as the console the review is based on with be in the thread.

I'll PM you more about this.
