It has been a while since anyone has posted a review and I just finished Alpha Protocol. Figure it would be a good time to write a review, since it is still fresh in my mind.
Story
The story is easily the best part of Alpha Protocol. You play as agent Mike Thorton. You are the newest member of a secret agency called, you guessed it, Alpha Protocol. After some basic training you are sent on your first mission to Saudi Arabia. Depending on how you handle that, and every other mission, it all has an impact on the story.
Graphics
Nothing special with the graphics of this game. It looks nice but with the power of the xbox360 it could of been better.
Setting
The game sends you all over the world. Places such as Rome, Moscow, and Saudi Arabia. Your missions take place anywhere from military bases to mansions.
Gameplay
The gameplay was very hit or miss. The dialog system was similar to what you have seen in games like Mass Effect and Dragonage. Most of the time you only have three choices to pick from. Those would be suave, aggressive or professional. Something new was the time limit. Instead of having all day to pick your dialog, you now only had a few seconds. I was a big fan of this because it made you think on your feet and kept you in the game. The stealth controls where pretty decent I thought. I had a lot of fun sneaking around and chocking guards out from behind. The other two forms of dealing with guards, hand to hand and gun combat, where not as well done. Both felt clunky and not completely finished. The worst thing about gun combat was the game sometimes wouldn’t register your shots. However what hurt the game play the most was the A.I. It was very random. I took a guard out with a silence weapon and suddenly the entire room know I was there and exactly where in the room I was. Another time I did a silent take down of a guard and the other one next to him didn’t even notice anything was wrong.
replay
There are three different endings to this game so there is a lot of replay potential. Just depends on if you can handle the poor combat again.
summary
As a whole I enjoy this game. The story really sucked me in. I just wish the combat could of kept up with the story. If it had, the game would of been a must play.
I give this game a 6.5 out of 10. As always I am still new to writing reviews so any constructive words would be appreciated. |

Sounds like this game was promising, the locations where you get to run around sounds cool. But there is a lot more to a game than where you get to run around! _________________
